Football and Philosophy

Not perhaps the most obvious partnership but this week a very interesting point was raised by the comedian Alan Davies regarding grief and mourning. His Hillsborough comment sparked a huge controversy amongst football fans and those that lost loved ones at the football stadium tragedy. His comments were crass and really only made because a game of football got moved. Big deal. Hardly cause for deriding memorial traditions. The subsequent insults hurled at him by these so called bereaved were totally unnecessary and actually just as insensitive. And insults by anonymous people via Twitter are just childish and disgraceful. This thankfully has been discussed at length and is not my main concern.
