Louis XIV clearly felt the frustrations of Europe stating that he could sooner reconcile Europe than two women! Alors.... It is not often one can quote Peter Mandelson and Louis XIV on the same page but today is Europe Day! 'I do not share the half-in, half-out attitude to the EU of some in Britain. As Aristotle once mused... The great military historian Prof Richard Holmes died last week. Sad loss to the history world and planet earth. His tv documentaries were riveting ...if you like that kind of thing...which I do! Every day is a school day.
